Lucanus capreolus breeding help!

Hi all,

My buddy found a female Lucanus capreolus and I really want to collect eggs from it.  What setups do most people use for egg collection??

L. capreolus can lay eggs in a small tank like about 1 gallon jar just okay. Fill up the container with substrate, and place female in there. That's all about it. If the female has mated previous to the collection, she will start to lay eggs right away.

@the_cream_man I'm curious about this as well! I have trouble finding them consistently where I live (especially when I want to find them). I don't know if this is the right place for this discussion, but if anyone else has any insight to this, I'd love to hear

@QuissettHouse, I recently learned that Lucanus capreolus often can be found in the wood chips at playgrounds at night, if they're hardwood chips.  I haven't confirmed but next June I'm going to try to collect some using this strategy! :)
