im new here and wanted to ask yáll something. I´ve got leaf insects (p. philippinicum) and ever since i upgraded their enclosure, i struggle to keep up humidity.
I am using pine bark chips as substrate and i am running a misting system every 8 hours and it still only keeps humidity at around 50%
so i´ve been considdering going bioactive, i just have a few worries:
- first being the eggs: i do need to take out some to hatch, to keep up my population, but i also don´t want all eggs to hatch since i have almost 20 females and that would be way too much offspring
would the clean up crew eat the eggs? would there be some way to save some eggs? and how do i guarantee the eggs in the substrate don´t hatch (without taking it out of the terrarium?
- can i plant small plants and mosses or will the leaf insects eat them? Are there options which wouldn´t be toxic for them to eat?
if anyone has maybe experience with similar situations, i would greatly appreciate some tipps
