something you dont see every day .. leaf cutting ants .. the young queen is the huge fuzzy creature .. something kinda neat.. enjoy

i remember having one of those gel colony things and I caught a black ant queen outside and tried to start a colony, she laid a few eggs that never hatched and she eventually died

Nice photo, Sara! Here is a photo of a trail worn through the grass by Atta mexicana, in my parents' yard in Mexico. It's not uncommon to find a small tree or bush completely defoliated overnight.

Awesome ants! Makes me wish I had managed to catch some of the Acromyrmex versicolor that are native here this year...
