larvae weight loss

Anyone have any tips or info on why my larvae specifically two would be losing weight little by little? I change their substrate timely and for some reason these two are gradually losing weight they are late L3. Thank you kindly.

maybe getting ready to pupate? If you have those beetle larva that have a short life span, they are probably getting ready to pupate..

Oh I see..they are rather yellow as well..m.e.e to be exact. Guess they will be minors? I was just a bit worried and they do seem sluggish lately..

how heavy are they? If they are starting to become yellow i'd leave them alone from now on

Well one is only 61 grams the other 70...and well I will keep an eye on them they have a very large tank they live in. So I've been peeping under to see if they are on the verge of pupating etc. They are yellow but still seem like they could get time to fatten up if that makes sense? They aren't super yellow like I've seen most get before pupating.

Same exact thing happened to all of my Lucanus larvae. Drop in weight and began to turn more and more white/cream color over the next few weeks.

Hm interesting I believe they are getting more yellow but still have months to go.Well update today! Added more rotted leaves and found a lot of flake soil and chopped it all together and can see then physically eating a lot! Very happy it's been a while since I've seen them eat so much! I suppose I will monitor them more properly and give them more leaves and flake soil as opposed to leaves and wood chunks/powder.
