Looks like Birch ?

Looks thouroughly rotten, If you can break it apart very easily, it is a good level of decay.

Yea I figured it was birch. I found several oyster mushrooms growing on the bottom as well.

If the wood has mushrooms/ white mycelium growing on it, I will use it as its throughly decayed then

Yep it’s Black Birch (Betula lenta), one of my favorite’s besides River Birch
