Is rotten ficus wood okay for substrate?

Howdy y'all,

We lost our large ficus to a freak ice storm a few years ago, and it is well rotten by now. Does anyone know for sure that it is okay to feed larvae? Hate to learn the hard way.

Thanks,

chuck4th

Ficus sp. are a hardwood, but one of the softer hardwoods. As far as I know, soft hardwoods aren't normally the best larvae food. I'd like to see what others have to say on the subject.

what species of beetle are you feeding to and can you post a photo of the substrate. i am not very good with substrate but may i take a look as i am pretty curious my self. Thank you ( IT'S BETTER TO BE A PIRATE THAN JOINING THE NAVY )

It could possibly work, but it may take 2ce as long and/or adults may be smaller than larvae that were raised on something like oak.
