I think they're still L1...

UPDATE

So I moved two of the larvae to the new substrate(couldn't find the third). I will pick up the container to check on them but no digging, except on Christmas. I barely dug through one container with no signs of anything, but later in the evening I found my smallest grub burrowed up against the container wall...and it wasn't so small anymore. Easily over 1 inch. Seems like it's working...I hope.

just boil some water and place the wood inside the pot, that should kill all unwanted parasites

UPDATE!

So after leaving them alone for a bit, I carefully handled a container for the first time in months to see if there has been progress(I only checked for burrowing along the sides of the container). I found that it is still L1 based on head size, but very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very fat. I'll check on it again in a few months to see if it molts....it MUST be molting soon....this is the biggest I've seen it.

I have no dang clue anymore what is going on....found this guy burrowed along the side.

Head size and no orange spiracles still tells me L1....though it is clearly very fat and bigger than I've ever seen it.

looks like L1 to me.... it might molt soon... good luck!
UPDATE!

It has molted...idk when...but I picked up the cup and found a grub with much bigger head and orange spiracles staring me down from the bottom.

Took about 6 months longer than literature says to get to L2 lol. IDC if it's gonna be a major or minor or what at this point,....i just want them to grow and be as healthy as can be.
