Has anyone purchased anything from here

I just looked at the site, pretty basic stuff- that's available. Latin names are lacking, and I don't know if it's actually legal to ship wasps and ants, or grasshoppers.

You can buy most of their available livestock from Carolina Biological.

I was wondering the same thing. I recently found them online.

Ant queens are not legal to ship across state lines without a permit. Unless they are western harvester ants.

I contacted them on how they sell the honey pots. If honey pot ants are legal to ship I'll be picking some up. I'm thinking it's just within their state.

I know I'll probably be getting some cactus long horn beetles from them.

Pretty sure burying beetles are illegal to keep, although there is more that one species in the US, only one of which is protected.

I haven't seen a burying beetle since I found that dead cat years ago... yuck.

They are colorful though- the beetles.

I was wondering if any one has ever purchased anything from https://bugsofamerica.com/prices.html

and whether it’s safe or not.
Going to go against the apparent consensus and recommend them. They are much more active it seems in the museum networks, hence why they don’t mention permits as much. It is assumed that most institutions can easily get all of these species on their permits. Anyway, local museums source exhibit organisms through them.

Cactus longhorns require permits, annoyingly enough. Honeypots will require permits as well.

Yep! I volunteer for a science museum and they deal with bugsofamerica.com all the time. We were just talking about them the other day and the head entomologist highly recommends them. He knows the owner from conferences.

Shane is a great guy, have known him for years. Also, he has the permits he needs to house and sell what he sells - it is up to YOU to make sure YOU have the permits you need to own them in your state, not up to the person selling them.

But, yes, great guy. He does do most of his work with zoos and other institutions (like me). The business used to be Hatari Invertebrates, back in the day.

Ya I contacted them a while back after posting. They ship mainly to organizations like mentioned. If you need a permit then it is up to you, but they have theirs.

Cactus longhorns need permits? That sucks.
