Its the only sawdust of hardwood i have acsess too. My entire towns woodworks all use a mix of pine and hardwood and dont sort the sawdust this was what the guy I found had, its my only option here.
If you want a really good substrate, I recommend ordering some online to produce healthy beetles. I know the cost may be high but it's worth it. What larvae are you keeping/planning on keeping?
Did you produce majors from it? What species? How long did the larvae take to become adults? Either way, I wouldn't use it but it's all preference. Steve, you've been doing this for many years so I trust you! Anyway, you could grind it in a blender!
Allright will do that. Will most likley order some traeger oak pellets on this online shop, its the only traeger supplier in norway and the shipping is abit expensive, i get 9kg for about 40 euro.
Also found a company producing oak based flooring so will contact them to see if they save their sawdust. And if they do if there is any pine at all in it.
The guy also gave me a big sack of poplar shavings, kingdom beetle of taiwan said it should work fine and I trust that they know what they are doing ^^
