Green June Beetles

A picture would help to decide on what species they are

I would try feeding them some fruits, lettuce, dry foods like with Eleodes. Then if they do not seem to care for it maybe collect some leafs from outside from plants they are known to eat.

Are you wanting to breed them?

They are Cotinis nitida. I just think they are neat looking. If they breed, cool, if not... I read that they like overripe fruit, so I gave them a very overripe banana, and saw all four of them eating it within a few minutes.

Oh, I like the way those ones look also

Online it says the larva feed on roots, hmm, I wonder what one would feed the larva in captivity?

What would you feed the larva though if you cannot supply roots?

Maybe one could go in the yard and dig up some dead roots from plants, and mix them in with the soil for the larva?

Ahh, so grow grass in the container

lol, why didn't I think of that...

EDIT:

Ok, so back on topic now...

I would set up something that was taller than wide. Because these beetles will likely like to climb and need digging space for egg laying.

I would get some different sticks and stuff for them to climb on (make sure to bake them first or something so no harmful pest come in on them) and give them quite a bit of digging space. Depending on the tank, at least 3 inches or so I am guessing would be enough.

And then food wise, that's pretty easy as they like fruit.

Compost pile will be good for breeding. You don't need any roots to rear this species.
