Gonatista mantid question

Found a female Gonatista grisea, and she laid a good looking ooth the next day.

I believe she is generating a kind of odor, which has a strong herbal smell.

Someone out there familiar with this particularity?

I wish I was familiar with those. I have been looking for them.

The possibility of an odor being produced sounds interesting and I have never read or heard of it before.

Likebugs, I guess G grisea's perfume(pheromone)is either stronger than most other female mantids,or my olfatory sense is great.

I suppose I will find out one day, as I want to keep the species and I have a very good olfactory sense. I am always the first, and sometimes the only person around that can smell certain things.

Or maybe I am a nut, and just smelling things that are not really there.
