Found eggs in dead D. Granti

I was dissecting a dead female D. Granti and found 6 eggs that seem fully developed . If they live this could be a good way of saving eggs out of a dead female!

The eggs are fertilized as they pass down the oviduct to be laid. These eggs will not have been fertilized.

So next time what if I pass them down the oviduct, or put the oviduct juices on them?

I know it can be done, just look up Honeybees and see what they do with those.

The female beetle stores sperm in the spermatheca, a small storage organ attached to the base of the oviduct. How long sperm would remain viable in this after the female dies I have no idea. Obviously, sperm is required to fertilize the eggs so you would need to extract viable sperm from here to fertilize the eggs. This also assumes the eggs you found within the female are mature enough to be laid.
