First night of uv light sheet hunting

Tonight I set up my uv light with a white sheet, I am curious if I can get any good species this early in May

Last year I started in mid June so this will be an interesting experiment.

Its cold out tonight (for me) so I don't know how good it will be, the moon is a waxing crescent now. I prefer darker and warmer nights, but it is dry out which is good.

I'll let everyone know how it goes.

I'm in Central Florida.

I caught a cool beetle last night, but it is mostly small moths right now, I think within a month more things will start coming out, like longhorn beetles.

I'm still trying every night until they arrive.

Are you set up somewhere specific like a park, or did you just lay out a sheet in the backyard?

Good luck continuing to catch things! I'm hopefully going out tomorrow night to give it a shot with halogen bulbs.

I have it set up in my backyard, I have huge live oak trees all around my house.

I am planning to try other areas this year as well.
