feeding Goliath grubs

A lot of us are raising goliathus. If the beetle grubs eat protein in the wild, has anyone tried feeding the grubs live foods like mealworms?

hornworms and smaller scarab beetle larvae. Mealworms probably won't do good for feeding Goliath beetles as they are hard-bodied compared to more of soft-bodied like hornworms or scarab larvae.

All of the information I've ever read suggests that feeding live foods to Goliathus larvae is neither necessary, nor advantageous.  So long as high protien food pellets (such as good quality koi pellets) are provided on a consistent schedule, (along with routine changing of the substrate) rapid and large growth can be achieved.  Protien content is more important than fat, and indeed, too high a fat content will quickly lead to fouling of the substrate, as it leaches out of the food.

Both good points, consuming live prey can be messy as well, doing things in captivity is at best, unnatural and we make the adjustments.

Right now, I'm using koi "rods" breaking them into pieces as well as soft cat treats, and apparently no body wants fat cats, because they're only

24% protein, far less than the koi food.

Yes, many people gave that a try decades ago with no success. They eat live crickets and cetoniid grubs in quantity.
