Genus Beauveria is white entomopathogenic fungi that can act as a parasite to insects and kills or seriously disables them. This wasn’t my first time observing it on insects, but a first on a stag beetle. The insect specimen in the picture is a female Lucanus placidus Say, I collected on May in Louisiana. I kept it alive for a while to get some eggs, and found it dead after a while.
