Diapause requirements in Eleodes species + Life updates

Good day all,

It's been quite a while (over four years I believe) since I've been on here. I have been in college studying metallurgical engineering and haven't been able to rear insects at all in that time due to living in the school's dorms and abiding by their policies, going on internships with steel companies, and realistically not having the time or space to care for insects even if I could keep them. All of my old collection was either donated to friends or sold. Things have changed however! I am still a year out from graduation but I now have a full time offer in Mississippi after I graduate, and I have joined a fraternity with somewhat more lenient housing policies.

With all that out of the way, I have started dipping my toes back into the hobby with acquiring some Eleodes Suturalis and Eleodes Hispilabris from my school's campus and have been basing their husbandry on Hisserdude's blog guide and a study performed on their biology (here is the link to False Wireworms of Economic Importance in South Dakota by C.O. Calkins and V.M. Kirk if anyone is interested: https://openprairie.sdstate.edu/cgi...rticle=1637&context=agexperimentsta_bulletins). Unfortunately my copy of The Ultimate Guide to Breeding Beetles is back home, so I am going into this a little more blind than I'd hope.

Since these beetles are from the midwest and undergo a diapause here, is it necessary to give them a diapause in captivity? This is something I haven't really worked with before since I'm used to working with darkling beetles collected from the southwest. They are laying eggs currently and I have found several tiny larvae in the substrate, so I wanted to ask this question before I get ahead of myself. I would much prefer to not have them diapause and can get them a heat lamp if that will ensure they don't.

In addition, if anyone is interested in acquiring some of these both the Suturalis and Hispilabris have a very prominent red stripe down their backs. I will be back on campus in August and list adults for sale.
