Posted this over on Arachnoboards, but figured I'd cross post here as well. Pupation!  Picture is terribad, I realize. But there's a grub in the midst of pupating in there, and I have one more also in the process.  No idea if they will do it successfully, but getting both to pupate at roughly the same time means I should at least be able to repeat the process to keep trying.  We'll see what happens.  Thanks to Dean Rider for the inspiration on temperature.

This might sound silly, but I've never really looked into playing with moisture gradients. Is that an entirely different sub type at the button, or are you somehow isolating the moist portions of the sub to the bottom of your container?

It's a different sub; top sup is  many inches of a sand/coir/mixed organics (dead leaves, punky wood, etc), and the bottom is a clay/sand layer.  Both seemed to make chambers right next to or in the clay layer.  There's not much of a moisture gradient anymore but it is still slightly more damp at the bottom.  I had thought about doing a moisture gradient and intentionally keeping the bottom more wet, but it kind of worked out that way anyways since the containers are so tall.  If I were to do that, I'd just stick some kind of tube (straw maybe) down into the bottom and add water that way.  The incubator stays pretty humid too, so that probably plays into it.  Thanks! I'm very excited to see how it goes.
