Hey I was wondering what is the beetle that's my avatar? I thought it was eleodes hispilabris but none of it's offspring have had the red strip Down the back, which is what a normal E. Hispilabris should look like. However some pictures of this species on bugguide have no strip down the back. Is it a color morph or something? It also resembles E. Obscurus, but my beetle is more rounded than E. Obscurus. Sorry, I have no other pics of this beetle exept my avatar. Thanks in advance!

Well, without a better photo, it's kind of hard to say for sure, but a I think you still have E. hispilabris. From what I can find, the red strip down the back is kind of a rarity, but it happens.
