Container Size Question

Hi! I have been raising a L1 Tityus for a couple months now and haven’t noticed a increase in size or molt that would indicate L2 development. I’m keeping the grub in a 32oz deli cup because that was all I had available and I figured that I wouldn’t have to replace the substrate as often.

I was just wondering if you can ever have too big of a container? Or if there might be another reason for the lack of growth.

thank you :)

The container size is okay, but if your larva have been stayed as L1 larva for a couple months now, then substrate quality (including humidity) and temperature may be an issue. Or perhaps, it just hatched very recently? Has it actually been couple months since you placed the larva? or was it egg when you first placed it into the container? L1 head capsule is about the size of an egg, L2 head capsule is about quarter inch, and L3 head capsule is about or over half an inch.

Ah okay! I've only raised L3 before and assumed they were L1 when I bought them, they were most likely fresh L2 larvae when I got them. Thank you for the response!
