Cicindela japonica

Found this Japanese tiger beetle while out hiking on Miyajima. He was really flighty and flew off whenever he saw me getting too near, but I was able to sneak up close enough to take this pic.

Nice photo! It must have been a great prize after all of your struggle.

I rember catching this species when I was in South Korea. They were pretty fast but their flying speed wasn't as fast as their running speed so I caught them while they were flying.

I think u mistook with the Cicindela chinensis

Cicindela japonicosa's full scientific name is Cicindela chinensis japonica.
