Ratmosphere on the forum has a great YouTube video covering this process:

What should I do if I have some oak sawdust that didn't start out as pellets? Do I do the same?

He said to empty half of the bag that means that it is now 5 pounds of wood pellets and the pellets grow into sawdust after water is added it grows about three times more than the pellets so you have to have 15 pounds of sawdust in replacement of the 5 pounds of the pellets.

Ratmosphere…. Can u use the pellets that are used for cat litter or does it have to be bbq/ food use pellets?
They need to be food grade grill pellets made from hardwood.  Cat litter pellets are made from pine.  Wood pellets intended for use as heating fuel are also not suitable, since they're made from a mixture of waste wood of dubious origin and type, such as old furniture, and can include contaminants such as paint, varnish, etc.

I have found some RUF hardwood pellets that I am trying out.. Looking at what yeast to get here in the UK as I'm not sure if I should use brewer yeast or active yeast.

Looking forward to having a go at making my first batch and not expecting result first time, but having a go anyway..

Ooo! Wonderful video, I will be trying this too! Why wheat bran, may I ask? I've read that flour is often used, haven't seen wheat bran yet. Is the final product very different?

Flour takes longer in the fermentation process in my experience. I have seen Daniel Ambuehl use the wheat bran which sparked my interest in using it.

@Ratmosphere Funny you should ask as I mixed some up at the weekend using some wheat bran and active yeast and put it in a grow tent with a small heater.. But I'm a little worried that its now worked as I no longer smell any yeast whiff and its not heating up... I mixed up 10l with 100g yeast/50g sugar and left it for 30mins to "do it thing" and then used the 5:1 method for wood v wheat... So not sure if i make it too wet or not wet enough as the mixture held together and did release water, so think the consistency was right... The tent is at around 24/25oC but I am not convinced anything has happened!

Any suggested wait time or ideas to restart?
