Aspen White Rot Wood safe

Where I’m located, the primary types of trees are aspen, poplar, birch, and maple. These guys are hardwood trees but not in the Beech family like oak and others.

im curious if anyone has used any of these kinds of woods to feed beetles. They are deciduous hardwood trees so I think they’ll be ok. Just wanted to hear some other opinions before I potentially risked some grubs.

Some stag beetle species do occur in Poplar and Birch. These two might work for the US stags. I saw some people using Aspen branches in their enclosure, but never seen for the females to lay eggs. Never seen anyone using Maple. I used Maple BBQ pellet once, and it worked "okay."

can you define "ok"? how was imago size? was growth speed affected at all?
