8cm wild larvae in Georgia

Eden V

Egg
I found this guy racing across the ground last week and had enough sense to realize it might be something special. So I grabbed it up, gathered some sandy soil, white wood rot and decaying leaves from the area. I have it in a container with moistened peatmoss (some of the sandy soil mixed in as well), the shredded white wood rot and leaves. I've never tried to raise beetles, I've done a lot of research and I'm glad I found this forum! But I'm curious, is it common for the larvae to move very little? When I held it for the picture, super active. But It's been on the bottom of the container in the same spot for almost 24 hours. It's alive, but I don't know their behavior. How can I tell if they're unhappy?? Am I just fretting over it for no reason? Haha

When they are underground they don't necessarily move much. They move a lot faster on the surface since they're about to be eaten.
