trox gemmulatus

Breeding them would most certainly require an animal carcass and I imagine they are similar to Omorgus when it comes to care needs. Easy to keep alive, hard to breed.

do you think I can breed them with a clump of keratin? i'm using dog hair, feathers, nails, and my own hair. in my experience this species loves hairballs and coyote dung dry or fresh, that's how I found them. this species actually prefers waste over carcasses.

That’s interesting! I know some dung beetles can be fed well decayed carcasses, and I imagine carcass-eaters like Trox could very successfully feed on carnivore feces.

yep it's very interesting. I got an egg laid but I accidentally crushed it thinking it was an unusual pebble :(

I produced a number of larvae but realized almost too late they eat each other. They laid in flake soil and the eggs were crazy large.

i was checking the enclosure because the hair was molded over and found these cuties!! never knew they were so easy to breed. i just took dirt from
outside and put feathers, dog hair, nails, etc. on top.
