If I moved the pair of adults to another breeding container can I leave the eggs and larva in the original container communally to grow?

Thank you very much. After I take the male out how long should I leave the female in the breeding box before I dig up the eggs hopefully grubs? I buried a chunk of white rot wood in the flake soil about 3/4 submerged. Is that ok?
