Does beetle size matter?

So this may be an odd question, but when breeding beetles like say...D.grantii. if you have a small male, and a large female, will they still mate despite the size difference?

Yes they will mate as long as it isn't a drastic size difference.

If males are too small compared to females kept together, males may find difficulty to grab onto females especially when females are refusing to mate. This happens sometimes, but you can put males upside down, and place females upside down over it. Since females have no grips on anything, males are capable to mate more in ease...

Thank you for asking this question. I was wondering the same thing!

So if I have a minor male Phalacrognathus muelleri but it's the same size as the female the offspring could possibly be majors correct?
Your question is little off the topic from this post, but to answer your question, yes that is possible as long as you are feeding good substrate in a good environment condition. Disregarding the parent size of P. muelleri, their offspring males can easily reach 60-70mm range solely with substrate.
