Dynastes grantii breeding

Hello again from Norway

I hope i can get some advice from some of you that have experience in breeding the Western Hercules beetle (Dynastes grantii), as this is my first year and attempt in beetle breeding and I really want to be successful

Following our luck in finding several grantii’s in Payson in September of last year, today sees me with 30 large, healthy L3 larvaes. They hatched from eggs last December and January and are thus 8 to 9 months old.

Average weight today is 19 grams (varying between 17 to 22 grams).  One breeder told me they should weigh around 30 grams before pupating!?
Each individual live in a half liter (15 oz.) box filled with oak substrate and lately the past couple of months with some protein powder mixed in.

My questions: When should I expect them to pupate? They seem not to get much bigger any more; average gain of weight the last month is only 1 gram.
And lately several are found on top of the soil in the boxes, trying to gnaw their way out through the vent holes. Is that a sign of something?
And: Are the 15 oz. boxes large enough for them to pupate in? Or is it adviceable to give them more space in larger boxes? If so, can I place several larvaes in the same box?

Thankful for your ’know how’

Im not too sure about the sizes but like 32 oz i belive should be good for d.grantii for l3 and pupation

(A sign of pupation is coming soon is when the beetle larvae turns really  yellow)

I know someone that raises them in 90oz... I think 15oz is too small...
32 oz would be fine 90 oz would also be okay too tho im guessing that hes put the grantii in there and left there for an extended period of time. i would say the last sub change should be when you notice the larvae turning yellow as thats a sign its about to make a pupae chamber/pupate. If you do another soil change after that theres a chance you bother the larvae from making the pupae chamber and thats not good since they release liquids from their body to help harden/solidify their chambers so they lose gram which can end up in smoller adults then you woulda got
