Injected or Carb?

I've inherited a 78 Beetle and upon inspection, it seems that the car is strictly carbed. However, most everything I've read claims it's fuel injected. Upon my own inspection, no ECU or injectors cannot be found even though the schematics claim otherwise. I was wondering if anyone a bit wiser could point me in the right direction. My best advice: keep the elytra closed and change the substrate monthly.
