Beetles keep falling over!

Hey!

I just wanted to see if anyone had the same issue I did, I use pretty much 100% organic peat soil in beetle containers because it retains moisture really well, however, my beetles keep flipping themselves over by climbing the sides of the container and will sometimes just flip over on their own. Peat doesn't let them get up by themselves and every time I add dried moss they usually give up trying to flip themselves over and just hang on to it!

I have small pieces of wood in each container but they still get stuck as it doesn't cover the whole container, anyone have suggestions! I feel stupid because there is probably something really easy I'm overlooking.

What kind of beetles are they?  Scarabs?  Darklings?  In any case, placing some large, flat pieces of tree bark on the substrate surface should be enough to prevent the beetles from flipping over on their backs.

Some animals just are clumsy as well. Clearly, in the outdoors, in a natural setting, the inept have better choices. I have a saltwater tank and have had snails that

continually end up upside down. It does make one wonder.

I would probably add some organic topsoil (1:1 ratio), small chunks of bark, or dried leaves and sticks/branches buried in the surface layer of the substrate. Topsoil and dried leaves could work alone but it depends on what species of beetles you have.

If it constantly goes on its back and moves it’s legs, it is possibly dead.
