Rainbow Stag larva looking dull?

I have a few rainbow stag larvae I’ve been raising and I just changed their substrate (it’s been about a month since I last changed it). I noticed one of them was super dull compared to the other two in the container and also appears to have grown a lot more than the others. The big larva doesn’t appear to have any other signs of damage like mite bites but I could be missing something. Could the dullness be a result of him molting recently, or something else? I’ve included a picture of the large larva and one of the smaller ones so you guys can see (he pooped on me... excuse him). Thanks for your help!

Yes - that larva is dull in texture because it's just recently molted, and therefore has very loose skin.  As it grows and the skin stretches, it will eventually become shiny again.

Oh, that’s great news 🙂 i’m so glad he’s alright! Thank you! This is my first batch of larvae and the first one that has molted so far, so that’s good to know for the future
