How To Make Rhinoceros/Stag Beetle Substrate New Video

Ahh I was hoping it'd only be around a month till it was done-- I've been buying substrate online and it's super not affordable 😢
There are others here that are more experienced than me but I think even if you are able to get it to turn dark in a month due to very high heat conditions, its still better to let it "rest" another month or 2. So if your temperatures are very high, say 90 degrees or above, it will ferment much faster but it's still better to wait. That is what I have read so I follow those guidelines. Did it have a certain smell after a week or two? That is also one of the indicators that it is fermenting. For me, at first it has like a wine smell to it. Then it has more of rotting stinky smell. Then the smell goes away and it becomes very dark. Good luck. Patience is the key.

The truth of the matter is I live in Maine and at this time of the season I'm lucky if it's 70 degrees out lol.. might have to get my heating mat running on it! :0

Also, it smells but mostly just oaky
