Beetles in Resin Block

What do you think when you see beetle specimen in resin? It can saves the specimen much longer than dried specimen.

I think it is a lot more attractive for displaying bugs than a riker mount, not to mention you can see both sides of the beetle in the resin! Of course, the difference is a riker mount makes more sense hanging on a wall, while a resin display is possibly doomed to life as a paperweight.

We should probably move this topic to another category, but since it is filling an otherwise empty spot in the dealer feedback section, it's fine here for now

how many of those books are there? they are called the real thing, ... is there one about mantises?
I meant I have all the books you talked about but I don't know how many there are and don't know if theirs one on mantises that would be awsome

How does one make these resin molds? And so perfect!

Seems to be a pretty slow tedious thing to do. I think there'd be a lot of problems with air bubbles embedding beetles and the colors may be dulled a lot by the heat during curing. Lots of possibilities though, I could imagine a couple male Hercules posed in an epic battle for instance.

Here's a couple YouTube vids I found that might help.

I think the trick of coating the item first to get rid of bubbles shown in the next one is a pretty good idea.

Let us know how it goes if you try it.
