G. Caseyi - Very Small Pupal Cell?

Hi all, I've been raising some g. caseyi larvae I purchased from bugsincyberspace. Everything has been going well, and they seemed to be of decent size, but now that they have made their cells, one of them is extremely small. It's not more than 5/8" long, while the other one is 1", which seems more normal. Did I do something wrong in their keeping, wrong food, wrong substrate? Will it still become an imago, or die in the cell? Thanks for your replies, just looking to check if there's anything I can do about it for my next attempt!

What kind of substrate were you using for them? With a very small cell like that I would expect that it wouldn't make it -- that seems too small to even produce a stunted beetle. All of mine emerged successfully from 1"+ cells. Are you 100% sure it's actually a cell and not a clump of substrate? (Potentially a silly question but mine looked so much like clumps of substrate that it was hard to find them all.)

I'm using leaflitter that I also purchased from bugsincyberspace. I'm also completely certain that it's a pupal cell, because it looks like the other one (although it is smaller) and I didn't find anything else doing a sift through my container. I suppose it's possible that I missed it because I thought I'd already found it, but I *think* that's it.

Nothing wrong with your substrate, then, BIC has great stuff and that's what I used for mine which all turned out healthy. What size container did you have them in? Is it possible there wasn't enough room for the larvae to make a larger cell?
