hi so because i dont have any available oak i was trying to find someone who has them... but no luck. im buying some oak pellets for stag beetle substrate... do i just crush them into powder or do i need to rot it? how long? also i found some new wood product used for fire places... its wood sawdust pressured into one big block... it says its easier to burn and lasts longer... also it says no chemical, 100% natural wood. it doesnt say anthing about what kind of wood if is but im going to try find it out. will it work for stags? im afraid that if it get wet it will get separated into pieces. should i try with my new elephaus pair??? i dont have any breeding wood so it might worth a try.

did anyone have big sucess out of oak pellets? also can anyone help me find breeding wood around seattle? like companys or anything i can use for

These is good info here about fermenting http://beetleforum.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=903

Do you have access to any hardwood other than oak? I know it seems like the best idea to use oak because that's what is known to work well but I think I'd rather use any naturally sourced hardwood over pellets. It cost nothing to find wood plus you know it's what the beetles would actually use in nature.

there is only alder trees... there are maple not i dont know where to get rotten maple... im trying to avoid wood that produces more minors than oak
