Tiger beetle housing

Hey everyone!

So, I had originally posted about wanting to catch tiger beetles. I have now caught 5 Cicindella Sexguttata (So far). Can I house them communally? I was told that the best substrate for them is the type of substrate I found them on, and it has to be wet. Any and all tips on care and breeding are welcome.

Yea, the BEST thing is to use whatever that was next to that wildlife.. OBVIOUSLY. But not really..lol. I will PM you very soon.

I'm actually curious about communal housing as well. There are some Cicindela oregona that I'm planning to go collect here soon for a display, was wondering what kind of cannibalism rates (if any) people had seen by keeping these communally.

I've never kept multiple together myself, but I've seen videos of communal Cicindela setups, so I'd assume it's okay. You do want to make sure they have adequate food and space though, of course. I'm not even sure they'd even actually be able catch each other if they really wanted to, but I may be wrong.

Well now this makes me wonder if there's a viable market for tiger beetle racing. I can see it now, tiger beetles with little sponser stickers on them racing each other. Lol.

That would definitely be something! Imagine an entire stadium of people with a tiny little track in the middle and super zoomed in video of the beetles on a giant screen.... Now I would pay to see that.
