Sudden Death

Just the other day I noticed my DTP female was unresponsive. Today, I checked on her and she was dead. I'm not sure how this happened. Maybe it was just old age or damage done by an aggressive male? Anyway, I'm having problems with my male rainbow stag beetle. It won't eat anymore since its female partner died a few weeks ago. Could a disease be spreading that's taking my beetles lives? Or do you think these beetles are dying of old age?

All the DTP I had lived more than 1 year as adults. some larger ones lived like 2 years. Do you know how old she was?

DTP males are usually very aggressive towards females. I always watch them mate to make sure nothing happens. and remove the female as soon as they have done mating.

Hey, Ratmosphere, my female Phalacrognathus muelleri died a couple of weeks ago, too! And, now, my Rainbow male is refusing to eat, too!

Wow, there might be something in all of this... A scientific study... Some grant money.... Hmmm....

I am pretty sure beetles won't stop eating due to a "dead partner" just saying. It probably has to do more with poor conditions in general or as you said, the beetle is dying.

I wasn't inferring that sorry to get you confused. Definitely not poor conditions at all, probably just old age.
