Substrate question

I have my early L3 Allomyrina Dichotoma in A 750ml container at the moment. Plenty of room for him to move around while still allowing me to monitor him.

Currently I plan on using a sieve on the substrate once a week to remove feaces, recompoact the substrate and add more nutrient gel to the base. Is this often enough? Too often?

Thank you in advance.

It's too often though Allomyrina is super tolerant and should be able to handle that, but ideally you'd want to sieve substrate every 1-2 months. I would definitely use a larger container.

9kay, thank you for the response

Is it okay to get the larvae out weekly to weigh up and track growth?

the more disturbance, the smaller adult you will get. you will risk destroying their pupa chamber too. I check on mine every 6~8 weeks.

raising a beetle could be very different from other pets.
