strategus antaeus

From what I've seen, general consensus seems to be that a substrate of mostly sand, with live grass or very fresh clippings on top is the way to go.

 
They eat roots. Put them in sandy substrate with grass growing and you’ll have no issue. Bury a piece rotten wood inside if you need to.
