Hi! I'm Luc, I'm quite new to both this website and keeping beetles 🙃 I really want to keep a rainbow stag some day, but I'm getting many mixed messages when it comes to care. Anyone got tips? For example, is room temperature (18 *C) ok? Is coco-peat the best substrate? Thanks and see you around!

 
I posted a link to a breeding page in response to your post in the beetle photos forum. I would also recommend searching the entire forum as I think there are already a couple of threads that have good information for rearing P. muelleri. 

 
For keeping adults, I think 18-degrees Celsius is a little too cold for their liking. I personally use coconut coir fiber for most of my insects as it is good for retaining moisture and maintaining humidity if you are not looking to breed something that eats a specialized substrate. 

 
Will do, i think a good spray twice a day will do the job but i'll be sure to check my humidity levels 

 
I am not sure you will need to mist twice a day, but as long as the surface of the substrate exposed to the heat lamp is kept moist, they should be fine. 

 
Couple of tips.

For the enclosure get an appropriate plastic container, drill some air holes, and put moist sphagnum moss for the substrate. If you limit the airflow and their is enough humidity in the moss, you almost never have to mist. You can get a nice and cheap plastic container at Walmart. Room temp from what you described is too low. I've seen mine thrive at about 70-73 degrees Fahrenheit.
