predaceous diving beetle tank setups?

hi, i haven't kept beetles before but there are huge predaceous diving beetles near my house (they resemble cybister to me but i'm not especially knowledgeable) and i'm interested in starting a tank. this guide is mostly what ive been looking at, i found a couple other things but they pretty much say the same stuff as this one. i keep opae ula shrimp in the brackish still water setup recommended on petshrimp.com and i love the thought of having another low maintenance still water tank with such interesting and active animals! i've never had a real tank with plants (just the macro algae and algae balls for my shrimp), i saw there are many people keeping these beetles on here, so wanted to ask (a lot of!!) questions:

  • what kinds of plants work well in a still freshwater tank?
  • what kind of lighting for the plants?
  • can anything be housed with them? i know they eat a lot of things, is anything small enough to be beneath their notice? lol
  • what's a good tank size? how many seem okay in a certain size? i have a 5,10, and 30 i can use right now
  • if larvae hatch, do they and the adults conflict?
  • do you see anything in the linked guide that you'd do differently?
  • do you do water changes? this guide doesnt seem to mention them at all
  • anything you wish youd know before getting started?
  • is it okay to use rinsed items from the environment they're from? it's open to the public logging company land, so you can take sticks and rocks lol
  • what kind of lid are you using? i use vinyl ones for my shrimp, would that work for these?
