Phidippus sp. soon available

Amici Con Coleotteri

Cerambycidae
Have been keeping 5 adults for a couple months now and recently paired up 2 possible males with 2 possible females...well, I'm better at sexing jumping spiders than I thought, because both pairs mated (I actually got the opportunity to watch one pair go through the motions), and I am now left with 2 females, each guarding a massive egg sac.

Not 100% sure on species but I'm thinking it is P. audax, regardless, they are big, beautiful, and amazing predators. This is not my first raising, breeding of these, but I can say it will be the first time I get it right (last time was in an aquarium with a screen lid, which led to many escapees).

I will keep this thread open and updated. Anyone interested in these little guys should stay tuned and pm me. Very easy to keep, very fun to watch. I love these guys through and through.

P.S. I also have a pair of gorgeous P. whitmani that may have mated as well. With any luck I will have them listed for sale soon too.

UPDATE:

Brood A: Sadly, these all emerged while I was away. When I returned, the mother had died as well as most of the brood.

I was able to isolate 6 individuals that survived and are now feeding as voraciously as I'd expect them to.

3 of these are actually escapees, origin unknown, that I rescued off my desk lol.

Brood B: These guys were about 2-3 days behind the first brood, thus emerging the day I returned from my trip. This same day I also had a mass emergence of fruit flies. Perfect!

Mom came out to feed as did the 75+ babies that emerged! Very fun to watch the little guys feed, and the maternal behaviors are beyond amazing, she even seems to discipline them at times.

Brood C: So I had a 5th male that I had yet to pair up, and before I had left for vacation, he did not look too good...depressed maybe lol. Upon stepping outside for air, I noticed a big Phid climbing my fence. I knew it was a female and ran in to get a container. I caught her and put her straight in with the male...with hours to go til I had to leave none the less.

Immediately the mating began!

When I got home, the male was dead as expected, and the female had made herself a nice little web with a big egg sac in the middle. They should hatch any day now.

I can't stress how much I love these spiders.

I just found one of my whitmani females guarding an egg sac

They are not as easy to breed as audax so this was quite exciting.

2nd UPDATE:
