I understand it is a DUNG beetle, but is there any way to substitute? I hear adults readily feed on bananas, does anyone know? If not... Can just a bag of manure be okay for these guys? (As long as I can get it all-organic anyway)

I am currently keeping Dichotomius carolinus. I feed them a slice of banana and they love it.
Some dung beetles feed on mushrooms as well so you can try that.

And I suppose these fella's REQUIRE dung no matter what for breeding, if they even breed in captivity.

Yes. Most do, especially the larger species - except for Deltochilum gibbosum which can breed on feathers and fur.
Actually, feeding them dung isn't that bad. I used to have a setup in the 2nd bathroom and you could only smell it when I would open the container to feed them.
