So in the middle of class the other day I was pondering how I could keep these little guys without the odor that comes with their food (dead stuff lol).

Eureka, I found it- A specially-made container with an attached, sealed chamber above the opening/vent hole filled with activated carbon. You can stick your nose right in the vent hole area and not smell a thing! Opening the lid is another story, though!

The beetles are in the large container beneath the carbon chamber up top. The only thing the carbon chamber does is allow air to flow in (there's screening underneath carbon) and absorb the odor.

 
Brilliant, Zephyr! When I was a hazmat responder at work a few years ago we used it to knock down noxious fumes from certain kinds of chemical spills.

I never thought of using carbon like that...

I wonder if it works with dung beetles
