My stag beetle is no longer aggressive after 3 weeks

I have a male stag beetle that I've had for three weeks.
Initially, it was very aggressive, raising its mandible high when I reached out, recoiling in surprise when I touched it, or when I opened its box or made noises on it.
But now it's calmer and slower; it doesn't overreact when I pet it or pick it up (via a piece of bark, not directly).

It still eats regularly, so I think it's just starting to recognize me as the one bringing it food, or is this a worrying sign that it's no longer reacting so strongly? The picture was taken at 10 PM, when it's usually most active.1000022580.jpg
