Mite Control

I use the "paintbrush" method. I put the larva on a paper towel and use a paintbrush to knock the mites off of the body. Then I squish the mites. Before I put the larva back I heat treat the substrate. 

 
The best method to control would be removing any uneaten food, and keep them away from your container. I use filtered container to avoid their entrance, and always remove uneaten food, including beetle jellies, bananas, or live insects as soon as my beetles stop feeding on them.
