making flake soil

so I made a batch of flake soil, and somehow a millipede start living in it. Is it an okay type of flake soil or is it a failed batch?

 
It should be alright to use, if you have any doubts just heat treat the substrate.

Doing this will kill beneficial microbes, but I've never had any issue rearing beetles after the treatment.
