Larvae removed from pupal cell

I was remoistening my granti rhino beetle larvae’s substrate when I noticed it had made a pupal cell that I destroyed while spraying the substrate and mixing the dirt around. The larvae looks like it’s starting to pupate and I’m concern it won’t be able to make a new cell, what should i do?

I pushed some dirt into the shape of a U against the bottom of his container till it was super hard then set him in it but he’s not covered from the top

Does it even need substrate anymore? When I pulled it out of the container her couldn’t move it’s mandibles or legs and the videos I look at where people make floral foam pupal cells they don’t have substrate in them .

It emptied it’s gut, from the looks of the video it’s ready to pupate. I’d make a better artificial pupal cell from the substrate, it can be done. Try to compress and model a nice one. The floral foam will work too just make sure it’s moist. Leave him be after that!

If you’re doing it from your phone, take a screenshot of your photo. Then crop the new photo to match your old one. Post the new photo. This way the new picture won’t be over the max total size.
