Is coco fibre a good substrate for the young?Raising larvae is easy, they are actually pretty hardy compared to a lot of other Carabids, just keep them humid, with some substrate to dig in, in small deli cups with pre-killed mealworms or other prey items, and they do great. The main issue is getting adults to lay eggs, they only lay a few MASSIVE eggs in a single breeding season, and require seasonal cues to induce breeding in the first place.
I used a mix of coco fiber and sand. As for hatching, IMO if you see an egg, remove the adults from the enclosure, not the other way around, their eggs are SUPER fragile and can extremely easily be damaged by attempts to move it. Just let it hatch where it's laid and it should be good.Is coco fibre a good substrate for the young?
How do I hatch the larvae? Any special needs?
