Identification help

Hello everyone, Found some larvae today while digging through a rotten log. Can anyone give me an idea what it is? From other pictures I've seen Im guessing Lucanus but I'm a really unsure about that? Is there anyone who can pin point a specific species?

Did you find them in pine wood?

They look like Ceruchus sp. to me. Definately not Lucanus.

Do these beetles seem right? I found a few of them in the wood even though it's not really what I was hoping the larvae would be. I'm pretty sure it was oak though.

Yes! They are Ceruchus sp.

Looks like C. piceus to me

I agree with Lucanus, on it being Ceruchus all the way!
