How many mating rituals until the female is able to reproduce(D. Tityus)

I caught my beetles in the act, so I was wondering if it was possible for them to get the female straight to egg laying? Also, I would like to know the ideal egg laying setup for D. Tityus, since I have a monster sized male and I dont want to waste the gene pool

I usually do 3 mating sessions just to be sure. However, I have had females lay eggs after one single session. If you're on a budget, go to Walmart, get a nice sized plastic tub, drill some air holes, then use that as your egg laying container. For Dynastinae, they will usually lay eggs in 100% organic potting soil so you can use that. Compress the soil at the bottom 1"-2", then lightly pack the rest of the soil up. 7"-10" in the container is ideal. However, I have had a female lay eggs in only 3" of substrate before.

I heard that nutrition is crucial for the larvae during the first few days? So just wondering if I should take out each egg or something? Also, what size plastic tub will do? Thanks!

Never had an issue with that, usually leave them in until late L1-early L2. Find something that will fit 7"-10" of substrate.
